1970 Christmas Issue. A very uniquely designed Canadian set, catalogue numbers 519-30. The stamps were designed by children to depict Christmas through drawings.
The layout of 519-23 and 524-8 on a sheet was unconventional for the time. Normally, a sheet of stamps followed a pattern of repeating singles, pairs or blocks that add up to 50 or 100 stamps. For this issue, there are five stamps in each group and instead of simply repeating the pattern with 10 rows of 5 stamps, it alternates to produce many combinations of singles, pairs and blocks, all on the same sheet. The design resulted in several combinations that increase the value of these stamps.
