These Great Britain Machins were acquired from an estate in 2025. Over a 25-year period, the collector purchased these items from B. Alan Ltd., a well-known dealer in the UK for 50 years. The owner, James Skinner, was also editor of the Connoisseur Catalogue of Machin Stamps, the "go to" Machins catalogue for many years.
This collection is being parsed and released for sale throughout 2026. This first group consists of over 150 Machin errors and varieties all in unmounted mint condition. Many of these stamps are very rare and unavailable for purchase elsewhere. This includes:
- Several imperf pairs including a 2p Green in a block of 6, and a 24p Terracotta in a block of 6
- A selection of perforation shifts and offsets
- Many Castle perforation shifts
- A few booklets and booklet panes
The rarest item is a partial Beatrix Potter booklet pane, with phosphor omitted on the 8p, 33p, 39p, and 2nd. There's also a full pane available with a phosphor wash, and sporadic phosphor on all the stamps.
Provenance, in the form of the original invoice or price list from B. Alan Ltd. describing the item, will assist buyers in authentication. These are identified in the item description.
