Christmas: Various.
The 1970 Christmas issue is unique in its design and rarity. Normally, a sheet of stamps from this era follows a pattern of repeating singles, pairs or blocks totaling 50 or 100 stamp per sheet. For this issue, there are five stamps in the set and instead of simply repeating the same pattern, it alternates to produce many combinations of singles, pairs and blocks, all on the same sheet. As a result, there are 54 different se-tenant blocks of 10 possible, each containing a different configuration of stamps.
This collection contains all 54 blocks with a Winnipeg first day of issue cancellation (October 7, 1970). It took 10 sheets of stamps to produce the 54 blocks. The catalogue value of this collection is $616 and it includes varieties along with 22 horizontal pairs and 64 vertical pairs, each worth five times the value of a single issue. There are 4 instances the rare 522i centre block as well.
I will send a complete breakdown of the 54 blocks, horizontal pairs, vertical pairs, and centre blocks to the buyer of this collection. There are matching collections of 519p-23p, 524-8 and 524p-8p available in separate listings.
This collection was meticulously arranged by Kasmir Bileski.
